When I finally bought a substitute from a large department store, I was disappointed by its cheap, synthetic feel. That disappointment led to an unexpected encounter while travelling in Pakistan. I met a talented leather artisan whose craftsmanship immediately stood out. His stitching, attention to detail and passion for leather craftsmanship were something I had not seen in a long time. I bought a wallet from him. Just two days later, my cousin saw it, loved it and practically took it straight out of my pocket. I returned to buy another, and within that first week, seven more orders came from friends and family. Seeing the quality of his work, I asked him to create leather jackets and travel bags too. That experience gave me a bigger idea: to bring distinctive craftsmanship and carefully selected leather goods and accessories to customers around the world. The vision became so important to me that I eventually left my career in healthcare to build PrairieHawk full-time.
